The VIA Disc NP procedure is a minimally invasive, outpatient procedure intended for patients with degenerated lumbar intervertebral discs. The procedure involves fluoroscopy imaging to guide a spinal needle through Kambin’s safe triangle into the nucleus pulposus of the intervertebral disc. The VIA Disc NP allograft is delivered into the target disc to rehydrate and support the cushioning function of the degenerated disc.
Disc degeneration typically begins within the nucleus puplosus (NP). Over time, the NP begins to lose its ability to absorb water and nutrients, leading to decreased disc height. Degenerated discs are characterized by decreased disc height, loss of water content and loss of nutrient content.
